Happy Satuday!
I hope your weekend is off to a great start! I am starting my Saturday with a hike and lunch with a new work friend. My plans for the weekend consist of cleaning, catching up on blogging, and spending time with my sweet boyfriend. We are planning on going to the pumpkin patch on Sunday, which I am really looking forward to.
Today I am sharing a life update because a lot of major changes have occurred these past few weeks. I thought I should start by saying that we are all so quick to judge and sometimes view life update posts as bragging, but this post is in no way meant to brag. We all work so hard and encounter very difficult times throughout our lives and it’s important to celebrate the good times. Most of the time, bloggers only share the highlights of of their lives, but they all (including me) go through difficult times like everyone else. Celebrating and sharing the good times with others shouldn’t be a negative thing and shouldn’t be used to brag, it’s simply meant to celebrate achievements with others.
With that being said, these past few weeks have been a very exciting time for Charlie and I. We moved into the apartment we had been wanting to live in and finally moved in after living with my parents for three months! It was definitely a time of waiting and being patient for us. We signed the lease in mid-July and had to wait until mid-September to move in. We both had to commute an hour each way to work for three months, which was difficult. My parents were so gracious to let us live with them from June-September and we couldn’t have done it without them, thanks mom and dad! Charlie’s mom drove out to Arizona for the weekend and helped us move into our new place and she helped us make it “homey.” She didn’t stop helping until every last box was unpacked and put away, she was the ultimate life saver!
Charlie and I both started new jobs this past month as well. Charlie is now working in the management program for Enterprise and I have been all over the place with jobs the past three months. I first started interning the local health department in May and completed my internship in July. After my internship ended, I was offered a temporary job in emergency preparedness, which was set to expire at the end of October. A wonderful opportunity presented itself and I applied for a job in communicable disease, which I ended up getting and I started my job last Monday! I am so thankful to continue working at the health department and can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.
I also decided I will be starting grad school next May (2018) and started both of my graduate applications. I pre-quaified for the MPH- Epidemiology program at the University of Arizona, which was very exciting news for me. I started studying for the GRE this past week and will be taking the test in December or January. I plan to continue working while I attend grad school, which will be very difficult, but I’m up for the challenge.
So many exciting things are happening and I am thankful/excited for this next chapter in my life. I have worked so hard to get where I am now and can’t wait to see what the future has in store. I love being able to share exciting times with all of you through blogging. I also appreciate all of you who are there for me during difficult times as well. Thank you for reading this long post and supporting me!
